  Why are the Bible, the Catechism, the Vatican II Document, and the Catholic Social Teaching essential?  

Essential because:
It is the foundation of our faith. The Bible is God’s revealed Word—the story of salvation history, the life and teachings of Jesus, and the inspiration for our relationship with God and others.

• It teaches us who God is, who we are, and how we are called to live.
• The Gospels reveal Jesus Christ as the full revelation of God.
• Scripture is used in every Mass, in every sacrament, and is central to prayer and spiritual growth.

Essential because:
It explains what the Church believes, celebrates, lives, and prays. It's a comprehensive guide to Catholic doctrine.

• It is divided into four parts: Creed, Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer.
• It connects Scripture, Tradition, and Church teaching into one unified vision.
• It is a reference for teaching and learning the faith.

Essential because:
They express the Church’s renewed vision for the modern world. Vatican II (1962–1965) addressed how the Church can be faithful to Christ while engaging the world with compassion and dialogue.

• Key documents like Lumen Gentium (on the Church), Gaudium et Spes (on the Church in the modern world), and Dei Verbum (on Revelation) help us understand our identity and mission.
• Vatican II emphasized lay participation, ecumenism, and reading the signs of the times.

It guides how we apply the Gospel to real-world issues like poverty, justice, dignity of life, and care for creation.

• Rooted in Scripture and Tradition, CST calls us to live out the love of neighbor in society.
• It includes 7 key themes, such as: Life and Dignity of the Human Person, Option for the Poor, and Solidarity.
• It shows that our faith is not private, but lived through justice, mercy, and peace.

• The Catechism helps us understand and articulate the faith.

• Los Evangelios revelan a Jesucristo como la revelación plena de Dios.
• La Escritura se usa en cada Misa, en cada sacramento, y es central para la oración y el crecimiento espiritual.

Explica lo que la Iglesia cree, celebra, vive y ora. Es una guía completa de la doctrina católica.

• Está dividido en cuatro partes: el Credo, los Sacramentos, la Moral y la Oración.
• Conecta la Sagrada Escritura, la Tradición y el Magisterio en una visión unificada.
• Es una referencia clave para enseñar y aprender la fe.
